Yes – at all times when racing, practising the course and during liaison stages, all riders must wear:

A full-face helmet that is certified to either EN 1078 and ASTM F1952 or EN 1078 with a DH certification; and

Elbow and knee pads. Additional protection, like a chest plate, is recommended.

Yes. Due to the nature of Mountain Biking/Cycling and the unique event location, you must read and agree to the Extreme Urbenduro Malta Event Registration, Release and Waiver of Liability, and Assumption of Risk and Indemnity Agreement.

This is included in the section and on the Eventbrite registration page and if you like leaving things to the last minute, you can sign it at Registration, but we do not recommend that.

Yes. You will need a licence to race in the Extreme Urbenduro Malta, such as a UCI Licence or a National Cycling Federation Licence. If you do not hold a current licence at the time of the event you can purchase a three day licence when you collect your race number at registration.

I understand and acknowledge that there may be vehicle or pedestrian traffic on the course route and the transitions, and I assume the risk of cycling and/or other portions of this Event and participating under these circumstances.
  4. I hereby acknowledge that I am aware of the nature of the course and am aware of the risks to person and property inherent in this activity and certify that I am medically fit and able to take part in the event.
  5. I hereby freely and voluntarily acknowledge and/or take action for myself, my heirs, executors or administrators, waive all and any fights of claims which I may otherwise have against Extreme International Limited, and release their officers, employees, volunteers, agents, contractors, public bodies, land holders, licensors and sponsors (the “Released Parties”) from any and all claims, suits, demands, expenses, costs, damages or proceedings of any nature whatsoever arising from any personal injury, death, property damage or loss of description whatsoever which I may suffer or sustain in the Event or the Events or consequent upon my entry or participation in them.
  6. I also assume any and all other risks associated with participating in this Event, including but not limited to the following: falls, dangers of collisions with vehicles, pedestrians, other participants, and fixed objects; the dangers arising from surface hazards, equipment failure, inadequate safety equipment; and hazard that may be posed by spectators or volunteers; and weather conditions. I further acknowledge that these risks include risks that may be the result of negligent acts, omissions, and/or carelessness of the Released Parties, as defined herein.
  7. I hereby agree to abide by any rules, directions and instructions of any race officials and their assistants.
  8. I accept responsibility for the condition and adequacy of my competition equipment and at all times when racing, practising the course and during liaison stages, I accept that I must wear a full-face helmet that is certified to either EN 1078 and ASTM F1952 or EN 1078 with a DH certification; elbow pads and knee pads. The correct fitting, condition and suitability of my helmet and body armour is my sole responsibility.
  9. I undertake to practice the course during the specified practice sessions before commencing the race, and if this is not possible, race with due regard to the knowledge that I have not examined the course.
  10. I am aware that Mountain Biking/Cycling is a recreational activity which may involve, in addition to usual and inherent risks, personal injury, obvious risk, danger to myself, the possibility of injury and harm and physical exertion for which I may not be prepared, remoteness to normal medical service, weather extremes subject to sudden and unexpected change and evacuation difficulties if I am disabled.
  11. I agree that if I suffer injury Extreme International Limited can, at my cost, arrange medical treatment and emergency evacuation services as Extreme International Limited deems essential for my safety. I hereby agree that I am responsible for my own medical, ambulance and travel insurance and for medical and ambulance costs in the advent of an accident.

  13. I hereby indemnify and hold harmless Extreme International Limited, their officers, agents, contractors, and sponsors from and against all claims, suits, demands, expenses, costs, actions, and proceedings of any nature whatsoever arising from any injury, loss or damage sustained by me or any injury, loss or damage suffered by any other person as a result of any act, omission, neglect or default on my part in connection with my participation in the Event.
  14. I hereby grant to the Event Producer the right, permission, and authority to use my name, image, voice, and/or likeness, without compensation, captured during the Event by Event Producer, its affiliated entities or contractors, and/or the media in any photographs, video, broadcast, telecast, podcast, webcast, recordings, motion pictures, commercial advertisement, promotion materials, and/or any other record of this Event for any purpose whatsoever.
